Where in the World is....Doug Quist
I have been gone all summer..Yes. Am I doing Summer Sales? Not if my life depended on it. Do I have Swine flu? No, but I have been sick for awhile.
I am on another rendezvous with Granny, at her place on Lake Tahoe. I have been up here since the beginning of June. I went home for a couple of days a couple weeks ago, but here I am again, in her room for the next month or so. It changes daily, so I have learned to just enjoy every day, and not plan anything until I return.
I lost my camera in her house some place a couple weeks after I got here. I despise loosing things and get so frustrated my carelessness. The only solution- get a smaller better one..if you have a camera you love, tell me about it.

Highlights:
Kayaking on the lake
Tubing on the lake on the 4th of July
Dressing up and pushing Grandma in a Parade
Singing Patriotic Songs
Going to church- half mountain people, half millionaires
Rotating 6 t-shirts everyday (reminds me of the mission when living out of a suitcase, I realized I probably don't need 10 pairs of Boat shoes)
Daily trips to the store
High Altitude tennis
Fresh Air
Weekly trips to the Reno Airport
Reno Walmart- similar people attend monster truck rallies
Swimming
Great food- Jewish Select Hot Dogs
Making 6 quart portions of homemade ice cream, at least 8 times
Driving ALL the way around the lake
Being scared for my life in South Lake Tahoe
Great company
Amazingly cool summer nights
Sitting on the patio eating dinner overlooking the lake.

Lasik Eyes
So, I got lasik a couple of months ago. It is amazing to wake up every morning and see perfectly. 20/15 in both eyes...it is great. After I got it done, a girl came up to me and told me to wear my glasses again because I look better in glasses. I couldn't break it to her that I now have HD Lasik eyes.

Taco Town!
I feel like this is typical America..if it doesn't weigh as much as you, you shouldn't eat it.

Is this a sign?

My friend Emily saw this up in Utah and took a picture for me. So, what about work experience, education...etc. Not much competition..this must be the job for me.
Which leads to my next question, why does no one name their boy Doug. Is it an ugly name? Is there anyone out there that is thinking of naming their boy, or knows someone who recently named a little Doug? Why not. Say it to my face, I have an ugly name.
Now I get it. Omniture is aware that Doug is an ugly name and no one names their kids Doug, so the sign is basically letting Utah Valley know, they are currently NOT hiring.

Craigslist.org
At times when I have a couple minutes, I look at random things on craigslist, ie. Jet skis, Sail Boats, Kitchen tables, Cars, etc. Anyway, in my searches, some of the weirdest things are found. Once, a friend sent me a link for 2 bee suits that were available...really? Anyway, I found these yesterday and want to see who can top them with their own crazy craigslist pictures...

If you really wanted to sale your couches, wouldn't you take the time to take them out of storage, THEN get a picture. Oh, and what kind of car do they drive?!

Is that a guy's arm or a girl's arm? Who is selling these cushions?!
Table for sale...wait is that a table...I can't tell what is under all that clutter. Do these people really want this stuff sold?!
Believe it or not, this was all one post. See if you can one up these..post the links!

Pasta Mia West

I won't go into detail about the horrific experience that my friends and I had at Pasta Mia West last night, but suffice it to say, it was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had, to this date. To those of you that live in Las Vegas, Stay as far away as you can, unless you want it to ruin your night, date or event. It is that bad. We let them know that are friends and family would NEVER come back, so I wanted to be true to our word and advise you.
Sorry about the hate blog, but it was THAT bad, and I am pretty understanding having worked in the restaurant business for several years.

More Cheese Please

I was reminded this last week how much I love the unlimited soup, salad and bread sticks lunch special at Olive Garden. That is probably the only thing that I really like there. Anyway, the best part is when the server asks if you would like cheese on your soup and salad. Is that a question that needs to be asked?! Of Course I want cheese. I LOVE cheese.
My friends and I always try to see who will cave first and tell the server to STOP. It is hard. As cheese falls like snow, the time seems endless. It isn't just us that feels that way, the server usually asks a second time, "Is that enough or would you like more?" I usually cave and tell her to stop before asked a second time, because I feel so itchy and awkward. The winned of the game would look at the 3 inch pile of cheese and say, MORE please. The key is to look away from the table and act as is nothing is happening in order to stay strong and not stop the cheese. It is usually the last person looking at the cheese or at the server that caves.
Try it this week. It makes for a awkward/crazy/great/weird moment, and don't we need more of those in our lives.
Better yet, if the server uses all the cheese that is left in the grater, ask to have another brought over and more added to the salad/soup.
